How to dye your hair without getting in a mess!!lol

Well, if you are like me and more colour goes over your body than on your hair this post is for you!!haha!! I have finally mastered the art of dying your hair without getting colour all over the bathroom!! (It has taken me 24 years though)!! This is what i do so i dont have to spend hours cleaning up after myself!!!

Preparation!

1.  Bin bags! plain old black ones will do but as i love pink even my bin liners are pink!!lol! What i do is step into one and shove my legs through and then make holes with my arms and tie/clip it right up to my neck! (picture is seriously too embarrassing)!!!..u get the idea im sure!!

2. Body lotion! People say to use vaseline but i find just any old body lotion/moisturiser does the trick!! So slather a load of this all over your hair line, ears and neck so if any spillages, and in my case massive blobs drop onto the skin you wont be left looking like you need to see a dermatologist! You can just wipe away with a damp OLD towel!!

3. Face wipes! Everybody has some lurking around and these are very good to just clear away any little drips that may have dropped on your arms, shouldnt be much as lets face it you are wearing a plastic bag up to the neck line and the little plastic gloves that are provided!!

Finally dying your hair!(if you can be bothered after all the prep)hahaha!

1. Hopefully you will have bought a hair dye that is the right colour!! I now only go one or 2 shades lighter or darker than my natural hair colour as this is usually what looks best! I have been every colour of the rainbow, and sometimes not intentionally hehehe!! If you are going for a change i totally advise going to a proper salon otherwise you could end up lookin a million miles away from the lovely ladies they put on the packaging!!!

2. What i like to do first is separate my hair into sections! Obviously everybodys hair length is different so whatever your hair length id say divide into four sections then you should be safe!

3. Always remember the top and front of the hair is where you need most colour so dont concentrate on all the bottom layers and run out of product before you have reached the top! Sounds like common sense but as i dont have much of that i am just mentioning it!!lol!

4. Massage in the product very well so you dont get massive patches and build up of dye, try and get an even coverage through the hair!

5. Leave for the amount of time it states on the box, dont go by the colour of foam/lather which you may have created whilst rubbing in as it bears no resemblance to the finished colour! I have got bored and taken it off as i thought it would be fine judging by the residue but then i had to go and do it all over again as it wasn't properly developed and looked just the same!!lol! Patience is a virtue...says me,heheh!!!

6. When washing out the colour i line the bath with some more trusty bin liners just so you dont turn the bath a funny colour!! Because they are bags the water just sits there and you can easily just pour down plughole quickly without it sitting and developing your bath/shower cubicle the same colour as your hair!!!

7. I love the free conditioner that comes with the hair dye! It prolongs the colour much more than your regular conditioner and seems to give you such silky soft hair! It gives you the hair of when you leave a hairdressers and normal conditioners never acheive that as much, so definately use it, plus it seems to help wash any remains of colour off the scalp!! I don't shampoo my hair after colouring i just use conditioner for the first couple of washes! I think shampoo dries the hair too much! It is optional though!!

8. Wait until the water runs clear and i mean clear!! Many of times i thought 'oh this will do' and then dripped watered down dye around the house without realising! I think it is because your excited to see your new colour, well of course it is but it isnt so fun when your spending more time trying to get drip marks off the carpet or the walls and by the time you have finished your hair has dried into a funny shape!haha! Again personal experience!!!

So hopefully with a few of my little tips in preventing disasters you will be able to enjoy your new hair colour and still enjoy your house!!!!!! If not then at least you get to wear a bin bag!!! hahahah!!

Happy hair dying!!!

Summer essentials!

Well, even though the summer has only made an appearance in small bursts, none the less i want to share my favourite things that make me feel summery and happy even on a cloudy day!

Shell Bracelets are a great way to feel beachy! Just a few on your arm in pretty colours not only jazz up any outfit but they also look so girly and cute! I actually have bought a few on holiday but lots of places on the highstreet do them! My two favourite shops for these are essentials and accessorize! So have a little browse and mix with plain string bracelets too!

Sorry you can't see it properly but this is a miss malibu suncream set! It is pink which makes it much more up my street! I use this as a body lotion as you smell of coconuts all day! It is my favourite smell, it reminds me of holidays instantly! Close your eyes and breathe in the scent and you are transported to the carribean in seconds!! I LOVE this!!!

Anything from accessorize reminds me of summer! I could sspend all day in there! It just reminds me of holidays! There are gorgeous jewelled bikinis, flip flops, summer dresses, kaftans, sunglasses, hats and the most amazing jewellery! It is quite pricey but so worth it! I would love to spend hundreds in there, i would feel like a bond girl...hahaha! (in my dreams)!!! Definately the best shop to go in to make you feel all girly!!

Bright nail polish is a must to make you feel good! There are so many out there now, too many colours to choose from! These jessica polishes are the mini ones and they can range from £5-£9! Of course there are many cheaper nail varnishes out there, which do the job just as well! From markets you can dig out a few great colours for literally pence!!! A little trick i do is pick two colours of choice and paint each alternate toe a different colour, the big toe is the main colour and in my case, yes its usually pink!!!hahah!

Bronzer...well come rain or shine you can always create a healthy, sunkissed glow! There are loads out there but my favourite is sunshimmer by rimmel. It can be found in stores like superdrug and boots along with all the other products in the really fab range!! I like to buy a light and a dark shade! Applying the darker shade under the cheekbones and the lighter shimmer along the top and on apples of cheeks gives the illusion of well defined bone structure, which is always a bonus! The one in the picture above is quite a dark shade but it has stripes of light gold which tones it down alot when applied with a big fluffy brush! Remember as well you can always build the colour up so dont over do at first otherwise you will look like you have been on holiday to the surface of the sun for a month!!!lol!!!

Well these are a few of my favourite things! At silly o/ clock at night typing this post i feel like im ready to hike my suitcase down and start filling it with fun stuff ready for a vacation!! Oh well i will just have to go to bed in my house but pretend im in a holiday apartment!!!haha!! If you are going on holiday or if a miricle happens and we get a mini heatwave here remember to always protect your skin and wear sunscreen because looking like a lobster isn't a great look!! :)

Hope you like this post!!

My make up kit essentials!

Primer
This is a must have! I am so in love with this product and use it all the time! It is by PIXI and is called 'flawless beauty primer', £20. I got mine in Boots, southampton. It glides on the skin effortlessly. It neutralises and smoothes the skin giving you a perfect base to apply your foundation! The bonus is it contains powerful anti ageing ingredients and other vitamins and minerals which are great for maintaining healthy skin!

Foundation
This is my favourite foundation at the moment! It is called 'photo ready' foundation and is by Revlon. Mine is in caramel but comes in a variety of different shades. It is totally blendable and gives great coverage. It is £9.99 and mine is from superdrug. The great thing with this foundation is it leaves the skin with a sheer finish and gives you totally airbrushed looking skin!

Concealer

This is my new purchase and it is totally brilliant! It is by Jillian Dempsey and is a corrector palette, £6 from avon! It has 4 shades which suit a range of skin problems. The lilac colour, top left is to help brighten dull looking skin. The pink shade, top right is to hide imperfections such as blemishes etc. The apricot colour, bottom left gives warmth to areas such as cheek and brow bones and the yellow, bottom right counteracts any redness that may be caused by rosacea etc. Great palette to own as it does numerous jobs and is all compact in one item!

Blusher

I use this blusher in 'candy shop' by beauty uk. What a gorgeous name and colour! It suits everyones skintone! I have used it on my asian skintone to paler skintones and it just looks soo beautiful on everybody. It really brings a sheer pinky tint to the skin whilst highlighting at the same time! Trust me it looks soo pretty!

Eyeliner

This is the best product i have ever picked up! I was in manchester and i think it was a savers shop i was in  at the time when i spotted this!I got this gel liner for about £3. I have never looked back since! It comes with a little brush which you just load up with product and it is so so easy to just 'paint the line'!! Appropriate name eh!?!! I love it more than the liquid liners you get because you can be so precise and get an even line everytime!!

Eyebrow pencil
I currently switch betwen my eyebrow box by urban decay and this eyebrow pencil by rimmel! I buy mine in dark brown but it comes in hazel and black also! I love the little brush it comes with on the lid so you can groom your eyebrows into a perfect shape before filling in any gaps! I think mine was from superdrug for about £3.99!...dont quote me on that though! It is highly pigmented and lasts a long long time! Brilliant for a touch of grooming on the go!!!

Highlighter
This is a highlighter by urban decay called sin! It is a gorgeous creamy consistency and is just so perfect for brightening up the face! I dab a little on my brow and cheek bones and down the bridge of my nose! Also i will just dab a little in the middle of my lip for a chic pout! It works wonders and just illuminates the skin! It is £18...a small price to pay for a best friend..heheheh!!

Lipgloss
This 3D lipgloss range by Boujoirs, £6.99 each is fantastic! I have a small collection of these as they are so fab! They moisturise your lips for up to 8 hours and give you the most amazing pout ever!  My favourites are the nude colours from the 'les nudes' range. In particular i slather on the no.33 beige!

So there was a peek into some of what i call essential make up products which i literally cannot live without now!! I love trying out new brands and new products but these are the things i cant get enough of!!!

Mummy's wedding make up trial!

My lovely mummy is getting married and i wanted to create a lovely look for her so she looks extra gorgeous on her special day! When doing make up for a special occassion it is always best to have a trial run so you get an idea on the look beforehand and can make any tweaks if necessary!

BEFORE!

AFTER!....gorgeous!!!

Wow, this is a very good look for a wedding as it uses neutral and natural colour tones so will acentuate the best features without looking too cakey and heavy. I aplied a primer to the whole face to give me a smooth base. I then applied foundation over the whole face and going slightly down onto the neck, not forgetting to blend into areas such as the jaw line, ears and hair line! This makes the whole look seamless. I then added a shimmery pink blusher to the apples of the cheeks and went upwards to create added definition on the cheek bones. I then dabbed a little highlighter along the brown bone, down the bridge of the nose and just over the blusher i applied before. This will reflect light and make the wedding pics come out fantastic. On the eyes i applied a white shimmery eyeshadow to the whole lid right up to the highlighter on the brow bone. Then to give the eyes more definition i added a bronzey brown shade on the lower part of the lid going slightly above the crease line to make the eyes really stand out! Next i used a grey eyeliner to line the lash line. Again, black will look too harsh on a older woman so a grey or brown liner will look more subtle. I used grey as my mum has green eyes and the contrast seems to look really effective. For the lips i stayed safe and applied a nude lip liner and went with a gorgeous nude/beige colour called 'iced tea'. This looked amazing and because it was a light natural colour it added more youth and warmth to the face. When i showed her the end result, after adding a couple of coats of mascara to the top and bottom lashes she absolutely loved it and was so happy with her wedding look! She said she looked so different, (in a good way..hehehe), which is always nice and it really is the best part of being in the make up industry! Showing someone a few make up hints and tips which they can go home, get excited about and achieve by themselves is a great feeling! Thankyou mum for being a great model today and a great role model in general!! Love you lots!! xx

Make up for more mature ladies!!

BEFORE (thankyou Elaine for allowing the before pic)!

As you can see from the before picture Elaine suffers from mild rosacea. It is a skin condition that affects the skin and causes facial flushing and redness. To disguise the redness i applied a primer by PIXI which has light particles in. Then I applied a foundation by BOURJOIS in no. 54, £10 (priced roughly, don't quote me on that)!!It is perfect for Elaine's skin as it is from their 'bio detox organic' range which means it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals that could flare the skin up any further. It is 98.8% made from natural ingredients so would be a good one to use if you have a skin condition or sensitive skin. It provides a amazing coverage as you can see! All i used was a pea size blob and with a sponge i gently went over the whole face! I then added a shimmery pink blusher to the apples of the cheek and swept outwards to highlight Elaines great cheek bone structure!! In my previous post I contoured my face, but on a more mature person this tends to look a bit too heavy so you can skip that part!

For the eyelid i went over the whole eye with a white shimmery shadow with a fluffy blending brush. As we get older our eyes seem to look a little more deeper set than they used to so using a white shadow over the whole lid helps draw the eye out and look younger in appearance. It also looks pretty and sparkly!hehe!

I then used a pinky eyeshadow and applied it a little higher than the crease, just under the brow bone to open up the eye more and add some definition! Then i blended a lilac shade on the bottom part of the lid from the inner corner of the eye outwards towards the centre. I then used a violet, purply colour pigment on the outer section of the lid and blended upwards from the lash line into the crease and again went slightly above. The secret is to blend a few different shades of the same colour, starting lighter from the inner corner and getting darker towards the outer corner. This tends to add more dimensions to the eye.

Next, I added a couple of coats of mascara on the top and bottom lashes, again from Bourjois! £8, which has an oscilating brush!!fancy eh!! Also i lined the top lash line with a grey eyeliner, as black would have been a bit harsh and over compensated the pretty pastel colours I had put down previously. This is a great photo as it shows how lovely and smooth the complexion looks and also how lovely and long Elaine's lashes are!

This is the finished look! It is a nice soft look! I added a tiny bit of lippy in a shimmery mauve shade to complete the look.  No rosacea in sight, just healthy and glowing skin!

Hope you like this!

What i picked up on my shopping trip!

The Body Shop

As promised to the lovely girls at The Body Shop, Southampton, I am doing a post on this particular product which caught my eye!I picked this blemish fade night lotion out immediately, £7 as I have mild scarring from previous spots and this is supposed to minimise the appearance of post-blemish marks and discolouration, which sounds fantastic! I just had to try this product out!! I haven't used any yet as your supposed to put it on at night so when i have i will do a review on it! So if you are in the same boat you may be interested in this! I certainly was! So keep a look out for the review........coming soon!!!

Marks and Spencers

These are my new shoes from Marks and Spencers, reduced from £49 to £25!! Can you see how excited i am!!haha! I love them! I definately need a new camera to take better, clearer pictures! So sorry everyone if some pics are a little blurry etc! Eeek, can't wait to wear them!haha!

Did i say how much i love them?!! haha! They will go with anything! Leggings, for example as you see here! Also im thinking in the winter they will look lovely with a pair of tights, winter dress and big winter coat!! They will add a bit of funky glamour to any outfit!!
I got this gorgeous 'photo ready' foundation from Revlon at superdrug, £9.99! It feels so smooth when applied to the skin! It gives a airbrushed finish and makes skin look dewy and flawless! I have mine in 010 Caramel! I will do a post on foundation soon so you can see what it is like to use and what amazing coverage it provides!

I bought a few more other bits and pieces, nothing related to make up, just a few essentials!hehe! I bought a black t-shirt from Peacocks for £4 and a couple of pairs of trousers and another pair of shoes shoes! Yes, another set of shoes! These were from marks and spencers also, £15 in the sale! They are pretty similar to the ones above but with a smaller heel!!haha!

These 3 items were the highlight of my shopping trip though so i couldn't wait to share them with you guys! I will post more about them at a later date!!

Hope you enjoyed! Byeee!

These are a few of my favourite things!!!!

I love M.A.C! It is a great brand! I especially love this Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer in NW40, £13.50! Unlike a lot of concealers out there it doesn't 'drag' the skin and create more creases! It is so smooth and is very lightweight which is perfect for using on skin as delicate as underneath the eyes! It provides flawless coverage and eradicates any discolouration and imperfections!

This is my new puchase! I am soooo in love with it! My cute and fun cupcake necklace, £4.99 is from claires accessories! I team this with a pair of gold hoops and... Voila..im ready to go!!!

My absolute favourite! You can't beat a good pair of 'Wispies' by Ardell! These have an invisi lash band, which blends the lashes flawlessly with your own! They are lightweight and look remarkably believable, unlike some thick, heavy and spiky ones with huge black bands that are on the market these days! They don't make you feel like you have huge butterlies on your eyes and  are extremely comfortable! These are £5.17 give or take a few pennies depending where you shop!

This is THE lash glue to use, Revlon precision lash adhesive £4.99! It holds the lashes firmly in place, day and night for several days! Great product! Don't be alarmed when it comes out and its blue, it hasnt gone off!!! It's so you can see exactly where you are applying it but it does dry clear, trust me!haha! Plus it has a little brush applicator so you dont get big blobs on the lash band, as i have done repeatedly with glues that come in a squeezy tube!lol!

This is a mascara which really works wonders! I have extremely fine lashes but with it's '3D lash boosting tube technology' you can have longer, fuller lashes! Thanks to it's big brush, it grabs and coats every lash, even the little piddly ones in the corners !hehe! It is by Collection 2000 and is £4.99!

The Porefessional by Benefit, £23.50 is truly worth the money! It is the softest silkiest balm ever and just glides onto the skin, minimising the appearance of visible pores that if your anything like me will have, especially around the nose and under the eye area. It is so versatile too as you can also use as a primer, it is great to use before you put concealer and foundation on as it provides a smooth canvas which feels baby soft!

I love anything by URBAN DECAY!!!! It is such a fun and funky brand and this product is amazing!!!!
For perfect brows everytime, I present The Brow Box by Urban Decay, £16!! Mine is in Brown Sugar as i have dark hair and an olive complexion so this suits my colouring! It is such a cute little compact product. You get a pair of mini tweezers for those stray hairs that seem to just pop up, 2 shades of pigment, a mini angled brush to allow precise application and a sneaky little pot of wax hidden in the botton to set the eyebrows!!

Mmmmm, This is Natural collections vanilla treat time set! It is from Boots and for £10.20 you get a body spray which is refreshing, dreamy body lotion, soft shower cream and body polisher, although you can buy each one individually! I love anything sweet smelling and this certainly lifts your mood! Of course it does, you smell like cake for goodness sake!!! Hehe!

Last, but no means least i bring you the lifesaver for hair...dry shampoo,£1.59 from superdrug! Spray, rub in and brush out! What could be a more simple way to refresh and add oomph into your hair between washes! This is great for festivals, camping (or should i say glamping..haha)etc! I always have one on my dressing table as it has a funky bottle and looks good and one in my bag for on-the-go! I have the pink version as i love Love LOVE pink!!!

And that is a few of my favourite things!! I now will tell you that this is the second time i have written this as the first time i got to this point i clicked on something by accident and lost the whole lot!! Grrrrr! But i was soooo excited to share these products, lotions and potions with you that i just kept on typing away!!haha!!

Lots of love and hope you like it!
